Autumn has arrived at Red Works and so has our latest drop of the beautiful Mela Purdie Autumn/ Winter 2015 collection.
April highlights delves into a 70s world of glamour and sophistication. Textures and prints are juxtaposed to create a soft eclectic mix for the height of winter.
Strong impact is made with Mela Purdie’s Silk Georgette with the delicate Petal blouse, Fold Over Shirt and Fold Front Duster.
In another reincarnation of decadence, Shell Lace enters as a must-have. Subtle transparency in the guise of stretch lace flatters the frame whilst suggesting what lies beneath.
A bold entrance is made with the Vintage Cossack print. In 100% silk, this kaleidoscopic pattern references traditional folk influences in sunset tones of marigold, burnt red, steel blue and black. Silhouettes are flowing and feature strategic seams and gathering to enhance femininity.
Muted burnt orange, maraschino and browns also create a 70’s nostalgia in simple pants and shirts in jersey and mousseline.
For texture, pure wool jersey is injected in shades of black, tan, and grey marle. Adding a new dimension, these pieces look as good as they feel and act as work-horses in the modern wardrobe. When paired with the Vintage Cossack print, the result is intricately beautiful. Tonal layering is the key in this fabric. Graphic tubular silhouettes creating the perfect modern contrast.
The new Solid Knit creates new building blocks in a customer’s wardrobe with its heavier technical blend.
To round out the collection, a new range of crepe double knit pieces add a modern touch. In black and milk, the fabrication is used in jackets, coats, shell dresses and bottoms. These basics act as a palette cleanser to the opulence of the twenties.
